L3 Technologies has broken ground on a 40,000-square-foot expansion at a multipurpose pilot training center in Arlington, Texas, operated by the company’s link training and simulation business unit.
The company said Tuesday the existing facility offers instructional and simulation tools to both military and commercial customers.
L3 will expand the training center to include six full-flight simulators, classrooms, a locker room, library and student lounges.
The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2018.
“This expansion reflects L3’s strategy to provide our growing pilot customer base with affordable and convenient options for staying current with required certifications and evolving technologies,” said Christopher Kubasik, president and CEO at L3.
“Our focus is on developing state-of-the-art capabilities that align with the priorities of our military and commercial airline customers, who are increasingly outsourcing their training and simulation activities,” Kubasik added.
L3 also noted it will offer simulation and training services to airline clients and ab initio pilots through a facility slated to open this year at the Gatwick Airport in London.
