The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has introduced a research effort to create a system that can discover and identify public safety dangers outside government facilities and public transportation areas.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said Friday the Deep Intermodal Video Activity platform aims to mitigate a gap between human visual perception and automated computer systems’ capacity to recognize ongoing action.
Terry Adams, program manager for DIVA, said the research effort seeks to develop a system that can reduce the need for manual video monitoring when attempting to track down perpetrators of attacks.
According to a broad agency announcement issued in September 2016Â on the FedBizOpps website, the DIVA program will build a robust automatic activity detection system for a multi-camera streaming video environment that features person and object detection capacities.
DIVA will also be used to support forensic and real-time alerting applications.
