The Defense Department has granted GlobalMed an authorization to deploy a company-built virtual health platform on DoD networks.
GlobalMed said Tuesday it received authority to operate for its video-based telehealth offering designed to connect providers and patients.
The ATO certification also allows the company to provide virtual healthcare applications, software and hardware for integration into the Military Health System.
DoD approved the company’s telehealth platform after completion of an evaluation process that involved a risk management framework and backed by the White House Medical Unit, GlobalMed noted.
A HIMSS Analytics survey, commissioned by KPMG, found that 31 percent of healthcare organizations are using video-based telemedicine services and 44 percent are looking to implement such services.
