Diane Swonk, founder of private consulting firm DS Economics, has joined Grant Thornton as chief economist and she will be based in the professional services company’s Chicago headquarters.
Grant Thornton said Monday Swonk will aim to grow client services through her economic forecasting skills and previous experience as an adviser to central banks, policy makers and multinational organizations.
She also serves as a member of the sitting committee for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an adviser for the economics department at the University of Michigan and a member of the National Association for Business Economics’ statistics and policy committees.
She is also a board member of the Chicago-based Posse Foundation.
Swonk previously worked as chief economist at Mesirow Financial, director of economics at Bank One and adviser to the Congressional Budget Office.
