A team of BAE Systems and Iveco Defence Vehicles has submitted its proposal to the U.S. Marine Corps for the production of amphibious combat vehicles.
BAE said Tuesday its offering for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle 1.1 program demonstrated a capacity to launch from an amphibious ship and return after a 12 nautical mile open ocean swim.
The Marine Corps selected BAE to participate in the ACV 1.1 program’s engineering and manufacturing development phase in November 2015.
BAE supplied 16 prototypes to the Marine Corps and went through government tests of the vehicles.
The Marine Corps is slated to award a low-rate initial production contract for ACVs to a single contractor in June.
