The Seattle-based Code.org nonprofit organization has secured $12 million in funds from investors such as PwC, Infosys and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Times reported Monday.
Hadi Partovi, co-founder and CEO of Code.org, said the organization plans to use the money to update its computer science curricula and train more teachers to educate K-12 students on the subject.
Code.org offers online courses with the intent to increase the representation of women and underrepresented minorities in the computer science field.
