Northrop Grumman and S&K Electronics have partnered under the Defense Department‘s Mentor-Protege program in an effort to boost the latter company’s business skills and capacity to compete for defense contracts.
Northrop said Tuesday it will provide development assistance to help S&K Electronics build up its processes to manufacture printed circuit card assemblies for Northrop programs.
S&K Electronics is designated as a small disadvantaged and historically underutilized business zone company located on the Flathead Reservation in Ronan, Montana and owned by the confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes.
Northrop also seeks to train S&K Electronics on how to manage processes, equipment, technology and workforce skills.
Under the program, the Salish Kootenai College will offer training and certification on the use of three-dimensional printers and potentially administer other related training.
Northrop has provided guidance to more than 130 small businesses through the DoD Mentor-Protege program since 1992.
