IBM has partnered with companies, universities and national research laboratories to study quantum computing and identify its potential applications for financial services, automotive, materials, chemical and electronic industries.
The New York-based company said Thursday it will collaborate with JPMorgan Chase, Samsung, Daimler, JSR, Barclays, Honda, Nagase and Hitachi Metals through the IBM Q Network.
The IBM Q Network seeks to provide member companies and organizations cloud-based access to the 20 qubit IBM Q platform and other quantum computing systems.
IBM also plans to set up regional hubs in the U.S., U.K., Japan and Australia to advance research and industrial collaboration as well as promote access to quantum computing systems.
The technology firm will establish the hubs through collaboration with Oak Ridge National Lab, Oxford University, University of Melbourne and Keio University.
IBM said it has launched a program that works to help users perform experiments and run algorithms by providing them access to the company’s quantum processors through its cloud platform.
At least 60,000 users have carried out approximately 1.7 million quantum experiments through the IBM Q Experience program.
