IBM has unveiled a new server platform designed to help enterprise customers process and manage data-intensive artificial intelligence and cognitive computing workloads.
AC922 Power Systems are built with IBM’s POWER9 processor and designed to accelerate training on deep learning processes by approximately four times, the company said Dec. 5.
The processor currently powers the Energy Department‘s high-performance computers Sierra and Summit.
IBM noted its AC922 servers incorporate Peripheral Component Interconnect Express 4.0, NVLink interconnect and Open Interface Architecture.
The company designed the servers for data scientists to build multiple applications for deep learning, scientific research, credit risk analysis and fraud detection.
IBM began its POWER9 development effort four years ago in a move to construct an architecture for users to manage streaming sensors, data and algorithms for Linux workload.
