Amazon Web Services has launched a new cloud region in France to help commercial and government customers run applications and store data within the country.
AWS said Monday the AWS EU (Paris) Region represents the company’s fourth cloud region in Europe and 18th technology infrastructure region in the world.
The new region includes three infrastructures called availability zones that are located in separate geographic locations with enough distance to provide rapid failover and continuous data availability in case of disruptive events.
The AWS EU (Paris) Region is also designed to meet customers’ data sovereignty requirements and give users full authority over the movement of their data.
AWS’ clients in France include companies such as Capgemini, Decathlon, Engie, LafargeHolcim and Le Figaro, among others.
The company plans to open 12 additional availability zones and four new cloud regions in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Sweden and U.S. in early 2019.
