George Franz, a managing director of Accenture‘s federal services business and retired U.S. Army major general, has received a Saint Isidore Army Cyber award from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association to acknowledge his cyberspace expertise.
Accenture said Wednesday Lt. Gen. Paul Nakasone, head of the Army Cyber Command, presented AFCEA’s “Gold Level Medallion” to Franz and cited the latter’s support to the Defense Department‘s cyber mission force, U.S. Cyber Command operations and the country’s service members.
The award recognizes individuals who have rendered long-term service and contributed to Army Cyber Mission efforts.
Franz joined AFS last month to lead the unit’s defense and security business initiatives.
He previously served as operations director at Cybercom and led the global implementation of the DoD and Interagency Offensive, Defensive and Global Network Cyberspace Operations initiative.
In that capacity, he also managed DoD’s cybersecurity center and network defense efforts across 52 military commands and governmental agencies.
