The University of Maryland held a dedication ceremony for the new A. James Clark Hall bioengineering facility that will host collaborative research work through the Leidos Innovation Lab.
UMD said Friday the 6,800-square feet Leidos Innovation Lab is located on the first floor of Clark Hall and supported by a donation from Leidos.
The lab will facilitate student collaborations on cross-disciplinary research and will provide overhead utilities, digital displays and movable workbenches.
Leidos Chairman and CEO Roger Krone, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017, said the Leidos Innovation Lab will help equip the nation’s future engineering workforce and aid UMD’s Fearless Ideas Campaign.
Clark Hall features 184,000 square feet of space that includes classrooms, research laboratories and conference rooms.
The building will support biomedical partnerships with venture firms, research labs, technology companies and federal agencies.
UMD built Clark Hall using donations from various donors, including the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation.
