TrellisWare Technologies has secured a potential $15.7 million contract to develop a system for the National Spectrum Consortium to help address radio frequency planning challenges related to military and civilian communications.
TrellisWare said Tuesday it will lead a multivendor team that includes Rockwell Collins and Kumu Networks in efforts to facilitate a same-frequency simultaneous transmit and receive process through NSC’s Military Full Duplex Radio program.
The MFDR program aims to decrease the amount of spectrum needed to deploy civilian and military communications systems such as tactical radios designed for the U.S. Army, Joint Services, National Guard and first responders.
TrellisWare President and CEO Metin Bayram said he believes MFDR technology has the potential to expand SF-STAR operation across multiple tactical radio applications.
An SF-STAR system is designed to employ a self-interference suppression method and help address channel interference, spectrum reuse and contingency planning issues.
