India-based Tata Advanced Systems has partnered Danish aerospace and defense company Terma to develop radar technology for integration onto Indian navy ships.
The team will deliver, install and commission 31 radars under India’s Surface Surveillance Radar project, as well as supply simulators, establish depot facilities and provide integrated logistics services, Terma said Wednesday.
Tata, the prime contractor on the project, selected Terma to manufacture SCANTER 6002 solid-state radars through a technology transfer agreement.
The SSR project marks the Indian defense ministry’s first purchase under the “Buy and Make” category of its defense procurement procedure.
