CAE has teamed up with Rockwell Collins to build live, virtual, constructive integrated training platforms.
The companies announced the partnership at the four-day Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference that kicked off Monday in Orlando, Florida, CAE said Monday.
“Integrated live, virtual, constructive training is becoming more critical as defense forces look to cost-effectively maintain readiness and prepare for operational missions,” said Gene Colabatistto, president of CAE’s defense and security group.
Colabatistto added that collaboration is needed to facilitate the delivery of integrated LVC training platforms in support of clients’ readiness and training requirements.
The two firms will also demonstrate LVC training systems at the I/ITSEC conference through the use of an L-29 aircraft, E-2 aerial surveillance platform and F/A-18 aircraft simulators that are linked to remotely piloted aircraft desktop trainers and naval combat system simulators.
Rockwell Collins and CAE will also use High-Level Architecture and Distributed Interactive Simulation networking protocols to connect LVC systems as well as perform distributed command-and-control tasks during the mission training exercise.
The University of Iowa’s operator performance laboratory will operate the LVC-equipped L-29 aircraft during the demonstration.
