A Raytheon facility with virtual reality technology has won a 2017 Program Excellence Award from Aviation Week magazine in the special projects category.
Raytheon’s Immersive Design Center is equipped with the CAVE Automatic Virtual Environment system that works to facilitate collaboration between cross-functional teams in efforts to produce three-dimensional models of structures and parts, the company said Monday.
Allen Couture, vice president of operations at Raytheon’s missile systems business, said the center has helped transform the company’s design and manufacturing processes.
The company uses the CAVE technology at several of its facilities.
