The National Academy of Sciences has received a potential five-year, $30 million contract to establish a board that would tackle science and technical matters of interest to the U.S. Army.
NAS will form the group to serve as the convening authority to lead periodic discussions, workshops and studies for the military branch, the Defense Department said Thursday.
The nonprofit organization will perform contract work through Nov. 20, 2022.
Washington-based NAS was established in 1863 through the Act of Congress to advise the U.S. government on science and technological matters.
