IronNet Cybersecurity founder, President and CEO Keith Alexander has said he believes industry can avoid breaches if companies share more information with the U.S. government, Motherboard reported Tuesday.
Alexander, a retired U.S. Army general and former National Security Agency director, told audience at a cybersecurity forum in Manhattan he also believes private companies that are victims of a hacker attack should not retaliate on their own.
“If it starts a war, you can’t have companies starting a war,” said Alexander, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.
He added the government has an “inherent responsibility” to help defend companies against hackers and that authorities should be given more power to stop nation-state actors.
