CAE will assume the role of training systems integrator under a contract to deliver an unmanned aerial vehicle training system to the United Arab Emirates, Aviation Week reported Monday.
Gene Colabatistto, president of CAE’s defense and security group, said the company will provide a UAV training center and perform program management, obsolescence management and sustainment services as UAE’s systems integrator.
Colabatistto noted that 50 percent of CAE’s business involves training systems integrator deals, where the company delivers a range of aircraft training needs such as the training facility, simulators, instructors and courseware in exchange for a long-term contract.
He added that being the systems integrator allows CAE to establish long-term customer partnerships “rather than just providing a simulator and departing.”
