Ian King, former CEO of British defense contractor BAE Systems, will join Senior Plc in 2018 as chairman of the U.K.-based engineering firm focused on automotive and aerospace markets, Reuters reported Monday.
King will succeed the retiring Charles Berry in April as the company prepares for an expected rise in demand at its aerospace, energy and trucks businesses.
His four decades’ experience in the defense sector includes nine years as a senior executive at BAE.
King was appointed senior adviser in July at corporate finance consulting firm Gleacher Shacklock after he left BAE.
He previously worked at Marconi, which merged with BAE in 1999, and then became strategy director of the combined firm following the transaction.
