The U.S. Navy plans to award Textron Systems a sole-source contract to supply an optical simulator technology designed to visually replicate actual threats.
The service branch said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Friday the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Corona Division requires a Man-portable Aircraft Survivability Trainer and believes Textron Systems has the potential to meet MAST specifications.
NSWCCO wants a system equipped with multiple light emitting diode emitters; integrated laser, air-ground and tactical engagement systems; recording technology for after-action reviews and playbacks.
The MAST should also work to program threat scenarios, generate GPS coordinates and integrate with virtual seeker technology, according to the notice.
The service branch noted that NSWCCO wants a shoulder-fire platform that weighs no more than 35 pounds and can operate for at least eight hours.
