Lockheed Martin has secured a nine-month, $9.4 million contract to support aÂ Missile Defense Agency project to integrate and test a low-power laser technology onboard an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The company will aim to help MDA address the agency’s laser power and aperture size requirements under the first phase of the Low Power Laser DemonstratorÂ project, the Defense Department said Thursday.
MDA awarded the contract via an Advanced Technology Innovation broad agency announcement posted on the FedBizOpps website.
The agency will obligate $2 million in fiscal 2017 research, development, test and engineering funds at the time of award.
Work under theÂ cost-plus-fixed- fee contract is scheduled to commence Friday and will run throughÂ July 5, 2018.
