ICF has received a potential five-year, $13 million task order from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to administer a national survey that will collect information about the prevalence of tobacco use among youth.
CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health commissioned ICF to help the agency examine behaviors and attitudes of students in grades six to 12 about tobacco use through the National Youth Tobacco Survey, the company said Monday.
The contract has a one-year base period and four option years.
“Data collected through the NYTS is essential to identifying key areas of CDC research and informing policy and public health action,†said David Cotton, a senior vice president at ICF.
“We are proud to continue our involvement in this critical activity whose ultimate goal is to prevent kids from starting or quitting smoking and other tobacco use,” Cotton added.
The company has supported CDC’s NYTS design and data collection efforts since 1999.
