Huntington Ingalls Industries President and CEO Mike Petters has been appointed to the board of directors at the National Association of Manufacturers, which represents more more than 14,000 manufacturing companies in the U.S.

NAM said Friday Petters will help advance the trade group’s manufacturing policy agenda as a board member.

“I look forward to sharing my story and my experiences—and the stories of all manufacturers—to strengthen our economy and create more opportunities for working families,” said Petters, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.

Petters also currently serves as chairman of the Virginia Business Council as well as an executive committee member at the Aerospace Industries Association and advisory board member at the Center for a New American Security.
