The Department of Homeland Security science and technology directorate has awarded a $194,000 contract under the Financial Services Cyber Security Active Defense program to NexiTech for the company’s cybersecurity technology.
FSCSAD is part of S&T’s Silicon Valley Innovation Program other transaction solicitation authority, which funds nontraditional companies to develop products that address threats against homeland security and critical infrastructure sectors such as financial services, DHS said Friday.
NexiTech’s technology employs the moving-target defense approach and is designed to create multiple abstractions of devices to confuse potential threat actors and help secure storage management and data interfaces.
The company, under SVIP, is qualified to receive a maximum of $800,000 through four phases of work for revamping commercial technologies for DHS applications.
SVIP Managing Director Melissa Ho said the program and the Next Generation Cyber Infrastructure Apex initiative at S&T aim to utilize the FSCSAD contract to provide security tools to DHS chief information officers and cybersecurity professionals in financial services who handle customer and company data.
Ho added that the contract builds on the federal government’s efforts to identify next-generation cybersecurity technologies and fund products that aim to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure parties and affect the commercial market.
NGCI Apex aims to identify, develop, test, evaluate and deploy cybersecurity technologies that work to meet the urgent need of the nation’s 16 critical infrastructure sectors for facilities that can detect, protect, defend, restore and respond to cyber threats.
