The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command has awarded Black Box a potential $4.8 million contract to modernize a telecommunication network architecture at the service branch’s air station in North Carolina.
Black Box said Wednesday it will update the architecture at MCAS Cherry Point into a unified communications platform as part of the Marine Corps’ efforts to modernize its command, control, communications, computing and intelligence systems.
The company will also help engineer, furnish, install, test and secure the military facility’s collaboration, network and communications infrastructure.
The service branch aims to implement its first fully converged internet protocol-based network through the project.
Black Box collaborates with Marine Corps and other military customers in efforts to help them implement systems designed to address C4I mission outcome objectives.
The company also currently provides sustainment support to the service branch’s facilities located in Asia Pacific as well as supports C4I upgrade efforts at Marine bases in Japan, Arizona, California, South Carolina and North Carolina.
