Thales has unveiled an updated version of its F90 Assault Rifle that is designed to be compatible and interoperable with NATOÂ weapons.
The F90MBR Modular Bullpup Rifle, which is currently servicing the Australian defense force, weighs 7.17 pounds and is equipped with ambidextrous controls to facilitate accelerated user reaction and targeting, the company announced Monday.
Chris Jenkins, CEO of Thales in Australia, said the updated military rifle builds on the company’s investment in the country’s weapons manufacturing sector centered at its facility in Lithgow.
Thales added F90MBR has barrel interchangeability options to suit a variety of operational needs and is equipped with a case deflector in efforts to enable users to safely perform off-handed shooting techniques.
The rifle has a built-in open structure to accommodate NATO’s tri-rail and magazine systems and an “Over The Beach” feature designed to support amphibious forces.
