Symantec will hold a two-day cyber competition for information technology and security personnel in the higher education sector as part of the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, Educause Review reported Aug. 28.
The Higher Ed Cyber Security Challenge will kick off on Oct. 19 and aims to help IT staff hone their skills and gain continuing education credits.
Up to three teams of four members are allowed to register from each institution for free and will get a post-event summary that contains areas for improvement.
The challenge will award points based on flags obtained and allow teams to use hints to advance through a real-life cyber scenario.
Symantec will announce the winning groups at the four-day Educause Annual Conference that will commence on Oct. 31 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
