Jay Anania, a more than 30-year veteran of the State Department and former U.S. ambassador to Suriname, has joined Buchanan and Edwards as director of foreign affairs at the government information technology and consulting services provider.
He will manage BE’s programs with the State Department and the U.S. Agency of International Development in his new position, the company said Wednesday.
Mohamed Elansary, vice president of global operations at BE, said that Anania’s experience in foreign affairs activities will help drive the company’s goals to develop, expand and grow new technology platforms for customers.
Anania most recently served as chief operating officer at the Organization of American States and before that managed the U.S. Embassy in Suriname for three years.
He also held the roles of management counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.
His career at the State Department also included roles such acting chief information officer, executive director and director of management policy, rightsizing and innovation offices.
