Kacific has chosen SpaceX to launch a broadband satellite designed to provide internet service coverage for customers in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
Kacific-1 satellite is scheduled to lift off aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket sometime in 2019, Kacific said Tuesday.
Boeing will manufacture the condominium satellite for Kacific and SKY Perfect JSAT Corp. based on the 702 spacecraft platform under a contract announced in February.
Kacific-1 will be built to offer high-speed connectivity through 56 Ka-band narrow beams and will carry a JCSAT-18 payload that seeks to expand mobile and broadband services for Asia-Pacific customers.
