Saab has entered the final development phase for a new suite of electronic warfare self-protection systems in a move to expand the company’s EW portfolio.
The company said Wednesday it will install one variant of the Arexis product on board the Gripen E/F fighter aircraft.
Arexis is designed to feature ultra wideband digital receivers, digital radio frequency memory devices, interferometric direction finding systems and gallium nitride-based active electronically scanned array jammer transmitters.
These technologies are designed to jam anti-stealth air defense systems and integrate into a single pod.
Saab also showcased its Arexis electronic jammer pod during the 2017 Defence and Security Equipment International event in London and noted the pod works to jam low frequency radars with the use of smart noise, false targets and saturation methods.
