Roger Roberts, who led Boeing‘s space and intelligence systems business from 1997 to 2015, has joined Hera Systems as CEO of the Earth observation satellite company, Space News reported Friday.
The report said Roberts succeeds Hera founder Bobby Machinski, who will transition to a new role as chief business development officer of the satellite startup.
Roberts is also co-founder of solar-power company Suntricity and previously held positions at Sun Microsystems‘ government unit, Applied Signal, Ball Aerospace & Technologies, KOR Electronics and Sotera Defense Solutions.
San Jose, California-based Hera aims to build and deploy a constellation of 60 microsatellites that will work to deliver Earth imagery to government and commercial customers.
