Leidos will serve as a presenting sponsor of the 42nd Marine Corps Marathon to be held on Oct. 22 in Arlington, Virginia.
Approximately 30,000 runners participate each year in the 26.2-mile journey, also known as the People’s Marathon, coordinated by the MCM Organization and the U.S. Marine Corps, Leidos said Wednesday.
“The Marine Corps Marathon is emblematic of the strength and determination exhibited by our troops, and we proudly stand by all participants as they complete this exciting journey,†said Roger Krone, Leidos chairman and CEO and an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017.
At least 100 executives and employees from Leidos will take part in the MCM and MCM10K events as the company plans to deliver a 400-square-foot American flag through Leidos-branded parachutes.
Leidos’ workforce consists of 20 percent military retirees and the company works to hire and retain retired servicemembers through its Operation Military Veterans Program.
The Reston, Virginia-based government services contractor also supports active-duty personnel, retirees and their dependents through Paralyzed Veterans of America, United Service Organizations and Tragedy Assistance Programs for Survivors, among other organizations.
