Kymeta to Develop Ka-Band CubeSat Antennas for NASA - top government contractors - best government contracting eventKymeta‘s government solutions division has received a pair of NASA grants to produce Ka-band antennas for integration with CubeSats or other satellites designed to operate in low-Earth orbit.

The company said Monday it aims to develop space-based antennas under NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research program as part of efforts to help address for very low size, weight and power requirements for satellite equipment.

David Kervin, general manager and vice president of Kymeta’s government solutions business, said the company will use the funds to help the space agency create metamaterials-based flat panel technology designed for satellite-to-satellite, satellite-to-ground and ground-to-satellite communications.

Recipients of NASA SBIR grants aim to deliver new systems that would have commercial and non-commercial uses as well as support agency missions.
