John Launchbury, formerly director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency‘s information innovation office, has rejoined technology research and development company Galois as chief scientist.
Galois said Thursday Launchbury will work with government and industry stakeholders in efforts to craft a road map to address security challenges related to cyber-physical systems.
He will also lead the company’s partnership with industry partners to increase the safety, reliability and security of software products through applied mathematical techniques.
“The cyber threat is real, and there is emerging industrial and political will to build secure systems on a national level,” said Launchbury.
“Now is the time to act.â€
He established Galois in 1999 and previously taught computer science and engineering at the Oregon Graduate Institute’s School of Science and Engineering.
