Huntington Ingalls Industries will help the U.S. Navy procure and manage long lead-time materials for cruiser and destroyer ships under a one-year, $12.8 million contract modification.
The Defense Department said Monday the company will help plan yard services for the service branch’s CG-47Â cruisers and DD 63Â destroyers.
HII currently provides engineering, technical, planning, ship configuration, data and logistics support services necessary to maintain and modernize both naval ship classes.
The Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair will obligate the full amount of the modification from fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.
Work will occur at HII’s facility in Pascagoula, Mississippi, through September 2018.
