Harris has received a potential $70 million contract from the U.K. ministry of defense for the delivery of robotic systems to support the agency’s explosive ordnance disposal missions worldwide.
The company said Wednesday it will supply T7 robotic systems for MoD’s Project STARTER that aims to mitigate explosive threats that include IEDs and other unexploded ordnance materials.
T7 is designed with an intuitive control interface and haptic feedback tool that works to help users perform hazardous materials cleanup, EOD, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and special weapons missions.
Harris also developed the robot to help customers disrupt and disable improvised explosive devices, reduce average task completion times as well as increase the mobility, maneuverability and mission effectiveness of operators.
Ed Zoiss, president of Harris’ electronic systems unit, said the company also expects to receive orders from other potential international clients for the T7 robotic technology.
