Digital Bazaar has secured a $749,241 contract from the Department of Homeland Security to create blockchains for identity and access management.
DHS said Monday Digital Bazaar will build a software ecosystem that will integrate distributed ledger technology, digital credentials and digital wallets to provide identity management and online access support to the homeland security enterprise.
DHS’ science and technology directorate awarded the contract through the Small Business Innovation Research Program, which was established to promote small business participation in federal research and development projects as well as facilitate the commercialization of SBIR-funded technologies.
Digital Bazaar will leverage its existing platform to develop a standards-based digital credentialing tool combined with a fit-for-purpose blockchain, then produce a Ledger as-a-Service platform under the project.
The LaaS technology will be deployed in various DHS pilot projects to test its performance.
