Greg Touhill, president of Cyxtera Technologies‘ federal group, has said that overclassifying information can slow down the federal government’s response to cybersecurity challenges, MeriTalk reported Wednesday.
He told audience at the AFCEA Homeland Security Conference held Tuesday he believes data overclassification prevents the government from formulating strategies to mitigate security threats.
The former federal chief information security officer said he observed that the government has worked to simplify information sharing between agencies since a massive breach occurred at the Office of Personnel Management in 2015.
Touhill added the government should prepare for a potential new type of security threat that might target the integrity of information by changing data in organizations’ systems.
