Cubic‘s mission solutions unit has deployed satellite antennas and personnel to to support disaster relief efforts on the Caribbean islands in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The company said Monday its GATR satellite antennas offer internet connectivity for the islands of St. John, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Antigua, Barbuda and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
GATR currently works to deliver communications, networking and high-bandwidth internet connectivity in support of a local clinic, hospital and pharmacy in St. John.
Mike Twyman, president of Cubic Mission Solutions, said the company aims to help individuals connect with family and friends as well as support the operations of medical personnel and emergency responders through the satellite antennas.
GATR is a 7.9-foot portable antenna designed to facilitate communications in extreme environments and withstand winds of up to 75 miles per hour.
Cubic also rolled out GATR antennas earlier this month to aid Hurricane Harvey recovery operations in Houston.
