Comtech Helps Civil Air Patrol Develop Web-Based SAR Aircraft Monitoring Portal - top government contractors - best government contracting eventComtech Telecommunications‘ enterprise technologies unit has created an online portal designed to help the Civil Air Patrol simultaneously track search-and-rescue aircraft in real time.

The company said Monday it used the Location Studio technology to develop the web-based CAP platform that works to monitor flight patterns, altitude, speed and global positioning system location of SAR planes.

The portal is also built with a messaging system for CAP pilots to communicate with each other and traffic control operators.

Comtech Telecommunications President and CEO Fred Kornberg said the company aims to help CAP view location data on SAR squadrons and compare historical search routes through the tracking system.

The U.S. Air Force evaluated the performance of the SAR tracking portal in natural disaster scenarios and in a real-world setting that involved a downed aircraft in Lake Tahoe, California.

CAP functions as a volunteer organization made-up of citizen airmen and as an auxiliary unit of USAF.
