Thales has received a Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 certification for its hardware security modules and Vormetric Application Encryption system.
The company said Thursday that the FIPS 140-2 certification helps validate the capacity of the company’s offerings to protect sensitive data of industry and government sector clients.
Peter Galvin, vice president of strategy at Thales’ e-Security business, said that the FIPS 140-2 certification helps customers select products, such as the company’s nShield XC HSMs and Vormetric Application Encryption offerings, for digital asset protection requirements.
The Vormetric Application Encryption library was built to help programmers encrypt files and applications in big data nodes, databases, container and platform-as-a-service environments.
Thales noted that the encryption library has met the FIPS 140-2 Level 1 validation.
The company’s nShield XC Solo and nShield XC Connect models provide cryptographic services to various applications across the network including encryption, digital signing, key generation and protection functions.
Each of the nShield products under the company’s portfolio have been validated to FIPS 140-2 Level 3 including the Connect+, Solo+ and Edge HSMs offerings.
