A Technavio report predicts that the global market for low-light-level imaging sensors will experience a 15-percent compound annual growth rate from 2017 through 2021.
Technavio reported Thursday it found that night-vision devices accounted for nearly 55 percent of the total market revenue last year, driven by defense organizations’ increased adoption of low-light-level imaging sensors.
The research company added that a demand for such technology will help drive market growth over the five-year forecast period.
“In the automotive sector, the image sensors are used for advanced driver assistance systems,” said Jujhar Singh, a lead analyst for lighting research at Technavio.
“ADAS uses image sensors for parking assistance, lane departure warning, and collision avoidance systems,” Singh added.
The report identified BAE Systems, Omni Vision Technologies and Photonis as top vendors in the low-light-level imaging sensor industry.
