Raytheon has received a potential $25.9 million contract to modify the Enhanced Integrated Sensor Suite and retrofit the Enhanced Electro-Optical Receiver Unit on the U.S. Air Force‘s Global Hawk unmanned aircraft systems.
The Defense Department said Friday the company will also provide non-recurring engineering and retrofitting support for EISS upgrades to Global Hawk Block 30 UAS.
Work under the contract will occur in El Segundo, California through Feb. 4, 2019.
Raytheon-built EISS consists of a cloud-penetrating synthetic aperture radar antenna, a ground moving target indicator, an electro-optical digital camera and an infrared sensor designed to help Global Hawk operators scan geographic areas of interest and collect reconnaissance imagery.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Global Hawk division obligated $16.6 million at the time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
