Narendra Gupta, co-founder and managing director of investment firm Nexus Venture Partners, has been named chairman of the board of directors at open source software provider Red Hat.
Red Hat said Tuesday Gupta has served on the company’s board since 2005 and succeeds H. Hugh Shelton, who retired after seven years of chairmanship.
Gupta co-founded Integrated Systems Inc., which he also led as CEO and president from 1980 to 1994 and as chairman until the software firm completed its merger with Wind River Systems in 2000.
He worked as vice chairman of Wind River before its acquisition by Intel in 2009.
The more than 40-year technology industry veteran also serves on the California Institute of Technology’s board of trustees and Asia Society Northern California’s advisory board.
