Jerome Punderson, former director of contracts at the U.S. Navy‘s Naval Sea Systems Command, has joined Gryphon Technologies as chief operating officer at the Washington, D.C.-based professional and engineering services contractor.
Gryphon said Tuesday Punderson will be responsible for managing and executing the company’s government contracts.
“The defense sector is a heavily regulated industry and having Jerry’s leadership and expertise will help us navigate our future,” said Gryphon founder and CEO P.J. Braden.
Punderson previously managed NAVSEA’s multibillion dollar contracting portfolio that includes shipbuilding and weapons systems procurement programs.
He joined the command in 1985 as a contract negotiator and went on to serve as director of the undersea systems contracts division.
The former Senior Executive Service received a Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, a Presidential Rank Award and multiple Special Act awards.
He also worked as senior vice president of defense and intelligence at the Professional Services Council.
