William Landay III, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral and president of WE LANDAY Consulting, has joined the board of directors at Arlington, Virginia-based maritime engineering and design company Gibbs & Cox.
Gibbs & Cox said Friday the more than 35-year Navy veteran also currently holds a senior adviser role at Avascent International and the Potomac Institute of Policy Studies as well as serves on the boards of VT Halter Marine and SAFE Boats International.
Chris Deegan, president and CEO of Gibbs & Cox, said that Landay’s experience in defense acquisition, foreign military sales and science and technology programs will help the company’s growth efforts.
Landay previously served as director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency where he managed a $400 billion Defense Department project that provided defense technologies, equipment, training and various services to other countries.
His Navy career includes time as program executive officer for littoral and mine warfare programs, commanding officer of USS Aquila and USS Paul Hamilton, PEO for ships and chief of naval research at the Office of Naval Research.
