A NuRAN Wireless subsidiary has received a contract to provide a software-defined radio technology to a Naval Air Systems Command division that maintains a weapons development center of excellence for the U.S. Navy.
Nutaq Innovations will deliver the PicoSDR 8×8 radio system to NAVAIR’s Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in Point Mugu, California, NuRAN said Thursday.
Martin Bedard, co-CEO and co-president of NuRAN Wireless, said the company developed the PicoSDR platform to help customers reduce the time and effort needed to prepare a prototyping platform.
PicoSDR 8×8 is also built to support research activities on multi-element arrays and help address technological challenges of SDR usage.
The platform can be used to evaluate Navy radio frequency systems including communication equipment, jammers, military cellphones and radar systems as well as develop beam forming, phased-array and direction finding systems.
NuRAN joins Rockwell Collins in a pool of SDR suppliers to NAVAIR.
