A national nominating committee has endorsed Harris Chairman, President and CEO William Brown for a seat on the Association of the U.S. Army’s council of trustees.

AUSA said Monday its bylaws allow members to nominate individuals to the council and comment on a nomination.

Brown has led the Melbourne, Florida-based communications and information technology provider as president and CEO since November 2011 and assumed the additional role of chairman in April 2014.

Brown previously worked at United Technologies Corp. where he held various senior leadership roles such as senior vice president of corporate strategy and development; president of the fire and security division; and president of the Asia Pacific operations at UTC’s Carrier Corp. subsidiary.

He also serves on the directorial boards of Celanese Corp. and the Fire Department of New York City Foundation as well as the board of trustees of the Florida Institute of Technology and Florida Polytechnic University.
