Calspan has received a five-year, $20 million contract to help the U.S. Air Force operate, engineer and maintain the service branch’s Variable Stability In-Flight Simulator and Test Aircraft.
The company said Wednesday it will also provide curriculum development services for the VISTA/F-16 program at a test pilot school at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
VISTA/F-16 functions as a testbed equipped with programmable flight controls and avionics systems.
The Air Force launched the program in the 1980s to aid in the development and testing of flight technologies that can affect force projection and operational readiness.
